CTA is a joint international institution of the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) Group of States and the European Union (EU). Its mission is to advance food and nutritional security, increase prosperity and encourage sound natural resource management in ACP countries. It facilitates access to information and knowledge; supports evidence-based, multi-stakeholder development of agricultural policies and strategies; promotes inclusive value chain development and use of ICTs; and strengthens the capacities of agricultural and rural development institutions and communities.
CTA wishes to recruit an ICT4Ag Associate to support the implementation of its Youth Strategy, including organization of the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo), the “Strengthening Youth Employment Opportunities in ICTs And Agriculture” (SOFIA) project, production of a publications on youth for CTA’s 30th Anniversary which will take place in 2014.
The position falls within the Policy, Markets and ICTs Programme. The incumbent will work with the staff engaged in youth in agriculture programmes, in particular the ARDYIS project. He/She will also support CTA’s work on social media.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
In relation to Youth in agriculture:
*. Animate and facilitate communication and networking among youths engaged in the ARDYIS project through various platforms (Website, Facebook, Twitter, dgroups, in French and English language)
*.Support the organization of the Youth in Agriculture Blog Competition (YoBloCo Awards, second edition) to be launched in October 2013;
*.Provide advice for the launch of online interactions in relation to the SOFIA project.
*.Collect materials from various groups about CTA initiatives on youth in agriculture for a publication to be produced for CTA’s 30th anniversary.
*.Collect materials for, and contribute to the launch a CTA Youth portal
In relation to ICT for agriculture and social media:
*.Contribute to the evaluation of the social media reporting to be held during the international ICT4Ag Conference
*.Support the organization of web 2.0 training and manage the promotion of the trainings as well as the dissemination of materials to partners;
*.Draft press releases, reports and various documents on supported activities;
*.Contribute to other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
*.A university degree in agriculture, ICT for development, or related studies
*.At least 2 years relevant work experience within the field of youth in agriculture at regional or international level;
*.Good knowledge and experience in using and managing social media in the agricultural context
*.Knowledge of ICT for development issues in ACP countries
*.Experience in the organization of workshops and publications and in the animation of websites.
*.Excellent written and verbal skills
*.Fluency in French or English and proven ability to work in the other language
*.Good listening and presentation skills
*.Ability to work effectively in a team, respecting and appreciating other perspectives and cultures

*.Experience in website update; knowledge of Content Management Systems
