Pineapple is popularly used to produce fruit juice and serves as desserts, salads, and in fruit cocktail. The popularity of the pineapple is due to its sweet-sour taste containing 15% sugar, malic and citric fruit acids. It is also high in vitamin B1, B2, B6 and C. The protein digesting enzyme bromelin seems to help digestion at the end of a high protein meal.

Owing to these, pineapple fruits are highly required in our daily diets either by taking the fresh fruits, dried fruits or the juice. Cakes, deserts and other food condiments are made from pineapple. On a daily basis in fruits and vegetable markets across the Nigeria, pineapples are sold.
